Love, Rachel

“Dear NICU Mama, I see how much courage it took to begin your healing journey. Whether you started it while your wound was fresh, or found the courage to pick the scab and revisit some of your most daunting moments, you are stronger than you know. NICU Mama, working through the trauma, learning to forgive yourself, and understanding that it’s okay to not be okay, all take courage. The courage to face your darkest days, the courage to accept that it wasn’t your fault, and the courage to do something for yourself.

NICU Mama, you are worthy of self-love, forgiveness, and peace. As you navigate this challenging path, allow yourself moments of rest and reflection. This is not easy work. Embrace each step of your healing journey with self-compassion. Be gentle with yourself as you bravely navigate the difficult path, and find solace in that it gets easier. Your strength is admirable and your well-being is vital, because NICU Mama, healing is a lifelong journey that you are worthy of.”

Love,
Rachel

More of Rachel + Her Daughter’s NICU story:

“I had a relatively easy and uneventful pregnancy until 30 weeks when I was diagnosed with severe pre-e. We found out I would be induced at 34 weeks, assuming we made it that far. Thankfully we did, and after a few days of labor, our daughter was born. She was 4lbs 2oz and doing well. Due to magnesium, I was unable to see our daughter for the first 30 hours of her life. I missed so many firsts. I met my baby for the first time through FaceTime. Our sweet girl has always been a fighter and only spent 5 days in the NICU, and was released once her weight got back up to 4lbs.”
