Love, Charlotte

“Dear NICU Mama, In this season of motherhood, I hope you can learn to be gentle with yourself. It is a marathon, not a sprint. It is possible to hold both joy and grief at the same time.

This might not have been the entrance to motherhood you expected, but here you are. Take it day by day. You are exactly what your baby needs and you are always enough.”

Love,
Charlotte

More of Charlotte + Ellie’s NICU Journey:

“My name is charlotte and my daughter is Ellie May. I went in for decreased movement and ended up getting induced. The induction did not go well and I ended up in an emergency c-section. Then, I was told that my baby was not responding well and might have to medically transported. Thankfully, she wasn’t. She stayed in the NICU for 4 days. It was such a difficult time. I missed out on the initial skin to skin and a lot of firsts that I really wanted. I had to leave the hospital without a baby. My mental heath really suffered and I blamed myself for a while. But then I found support through therapy and support groups. Now, I decided to become a doula and also get specially trained as a nicu doula so I that I can support families like I needed it.”
